Davis receives best paper award at human and computing interaction conference

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Felecia Davis, assistant professor of architecture in the Stuckeman School, brought home a best paper award from the Human and Computing Interaction International (HCII) 2018 Conference, which was held earlier this year in Las Vegas.
Davis earned the honor at the sixth International Conference on Distributed, Ambient and Pervasive Interactions with her paper titled “Touch: Communication of Emotion through Computational Textile Expression.”
The HCII conference provides “[an] international forum for the dissemination and exchange of up-to-date scientific information on theoretical, generic and applied areas of human and computing interaction.” Best paper awards are given out for 14 HCII-affiliated conferences or thematic areas at the event.
Davis and fellow faculty member Yasmine Abbas, assistant teaching professor of architecture and engineering design, are chairing a session titled “Computing with and for the Senses” at the seventh International Conference on Distributed, Ambient and Pervasive Interactions. The conference is affiliated with HCII 2019, which will be held July 26-31, 2019 in Orlando, Florida.
Davis and Abbas are both faculty researchers for the Stuckeman Center for Design Computing, which is devoted to advanced design research and learning in computational design.
