Qrono CEO and co-founder serves as fall 2019 Bishoff Entrepreneur-in-Residence

12/5/19

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Sam Rothstein, co-founder and CEO of Qrono, served as the fall 2019 Bishoff Entrepreneur-in-Residence.

The Bishoff Entrepreneur-in-Residence program was established in 2003 for the School of Engineering Design, Technology, and Professional Programs' Engineering Entrepreneurship program. It brings successful entrepreneurs with backgrounds in engineering, design, business or manufacturing to the University Park campus for seminars, workshops and conversation with students, faculty and staff.

During the fall semester, Rothstein visited multiple sections of ENGR 310: Entrepreneurial Leadership, ENGR 407: Technology-Based Entrepreneurship and ENGR 415: Technology Launch for Entrepreneurs courses to discuss his experience as a scientist-entrepreneur.

Qrono, which Rothstein helped found in 2010, works to rewrite cancer’s story through its development of two new classes of patentable therapies that change the communication between a tumor and an immune cell. The company has received multiple awards for its innovative medical solutions.

In addition to serving as Qrono’s CEO, Rothstein has published various papers and articles focusing on his cancer therapy work. Before being named CEO in 2017, Rothstein served as the company’s chief scientific officer, working with FDA scientists on long-acting injectables.

Rothstein received his bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Bucknell University in 2005 and his doctoral degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012.
