Student Organizations and Resources

A very important part of your entrepreneurship experience at Penn State happens outside of the classroom. There are numerous business competitions, workshops and guest speaker events that complement your classroom work.  The following provides information about some of these activities, including student organizations devoted to entrepreneurship.

Ag Springboard Competition

College of Agriculture’s new product/business competition that organizes student teams from various colleges to develop a new food/bio idea.

Global Entrepreneurship Week - Penn State

A worldwide celebration of entrepreneurship held each November. Penn State has been ranked first or second in terms of the number of events held during this week for the past three years.


An annual spring event that is part of the IST College’s Start-Up week that attracts people from all over the country who participate in a classic Hackathon.

Happy Valley LaunchBox

An “incubator” program that helps Penn State students, faculty and alumni advance their new business ideas.

Idea Pitch Competition

Smeal Business College competition to develop new businesses.


Penn State’s student organization that focuses on entrepreneurship. Innoblue offers a wide range of programs and experiences that will help you experience real-world entrepreneurship.

Integrated Design Solutions

SEDTAPP's design service group that can assist your venture with hardware prototype development. 

Invent Penn State

A website that provides an overview of all of the activities Penn State is involved with that relate to entrepreneurship and economic development.

IST Startup Week

Held each spring, Startup Week is a celebration of entrepreneurship that includes numerous workshops and speakers.

New Leaf Initiative

A community innovation hub that provides a creative working space and associated programs that provide the opportunity to meet people who are interested in entrepreneurship and sustainability.

Summer Founders Program

Initiated by Penn State alumni, the Summer Founders Program provides select student teams with the funding and support to work on their new business ideas over the summer months.

Techcelerator Program @ State College

Advanced incubator program that serves a select group of students, faculty and community members.  Participants can receive up to $10k in funding.
